This is a private garden and I have just down sized to a quarter acre section from almost two acres. I have been involved with The Heritage Rose Society for a very long time. My second love is the Hardy Geranium and I use them as companion plants for the roses as they are easy, disease free, and come in perfect colors to enhance the roses. I also have a collection of Lilacs. It was hard moving to a smaller garden because what do you keep and what do you give away. I decided not to collect rare things anymore or to think I had to have every category of roses. I also got rid of lots of smaller plants and kept trees and shrubs to make the garden a bit more easier to manage. . Being courageous and doing what you think is right is wonderful and I know from experience that a garden can be very healing and get us through the difficult times in life.I am not opposed to guests in the garden I just have a smaller one now, but there will still be species roses and some lovely things to see..
