Our rose greenhouse is an expanse of living history that’s designated as a tribute to the five decades of rose production done by the Schenkelfamily until 1999. As a showcase, this is the sturdy Cypress-wood greenhouse that often impresses visitors with 12 varieties of roses – some rare – that encompass nine distinct colors and patterns. Having gone un-watered and untended for close to a decade prior to their 2008 transplanting into Greenhouse 3, today the flowers are routinely donated to nursing homes throughout the Lynchburg area. To date, more than 750 dozen roses have been donated. Propagation an the sale of the rose will be available in 2010 to the public.
