DONATED TEA ROSES from my Project gifted to the Edmondston-Alston House on the Battery in Charleston, SC. Perle de Jardins, Rosette Delizy, Marie Van Houtte and a strong seedlng from non-tea Baron Girod de L'Ain grown from a hip from Park of Roses...............knew my small greenhouse couldn't hold them all, heading to Charleston September 2012, contacted a few historical properties who could give them a good home. Virginia the Director at E-A responded immediately and with enthusiasm and yes, adopted them..............

A LOTTERY CARD! Endless HOPE and POSSIBILITIES!!!!!!!! This is one of 24 Paradise x MIXED POLLEN--heavy on SUNSONG............and, laughing, SUNSONG did prevail! I got 95% germination from this hip/Paradise........beyond any stats, 24 of 25 seeds germinated..........I got a fleet of RED ZINNIAS..........none survived, I culled any which survived a weird blitz of IN HOME APHIDS which draind them all.........but they bloomed! SUNSONG gave each and everyone of those 24 that weird and unique petal shape..........also gave them zinnia form........carmine/red/deep red/beet root........useless, worthless, but when it snows seeing baby roses emerge every day makes the winter pass so much more quickly!

GONCMG live and in person. On St. Croix. I like to think of myself as the "new" ALISTAIR COOK when in effect I am bred closer to Pedro Dot. Work 2 jobs: 20+ hours a week with my Project and 50+ a week managing a sushi restaurant in downtown Columbus. Escape to St. Croix when I can............

PARK OF ROSES............bed dedicated to my Father.........I do not love those "great red bedders" as they do in Europe..........but my Dad was from Italy and Crimson Bouquet reads very European.........

Lillies in the front yard, June 2012. I let them set pods and this year? A zillion self-sets! Lily seedlings all-over, I cannot grow lily-of-the-valley, african violets, tulips or Tropicana but I CAN grow most roses, ALL CITRUS and, it seems, aurelian (fragrant!) lillies...............and along with peonies, german iris and lilacs, lillies help me not HATE living in the Great Lakes/Ironically Extremely Cruel Midwest..........the ROSE in the bottom of the pic? Sold to me as LAVENDER PINOCCHIO but is some once blooming, scentless galllica. Looks somewhat like Charles de Milles but I have grown him and it isn't him.............

I SPEAK CITRUS as much as I SPEAK ROSE. This is a 5 year old key lime seedling started from seed pulled from a rotting bag of key limes on grocery store clearance.........like roses, citrus are generally grafted and if started from seed can be "anything"...........this one came true and as I type this has about 50 real key limes on him, a few weeks ago his big "bloom" scented the thick night air...........in winter he lives on top of cinder blocks inside the whirlpool tub in the master bath.........

ST. CROIX! Devoid of roses. Except this one which grows behind a church on King Street........no thorns, bloom is small and white-ish, reminds me of Cecil Brunner and could be in all actuality................have scoured St. Croix and this is the only rose I have found..............I want to mail the whole island a package of Belle Portugal! Or some Clark Hybrid Giganteas!
