First and foremost, Jessie Calder Garden is a rose garden. Located within Invercargill's large recreational and botanical park known as Queen's Park, it comprises mostly Old Garden Roses and earlier Modern Roses, some of which are rare cultivars. Also a few David Austin varieties and some Species Roses. The nearby Henry Edginton Rose Garden is dedicated to Modern Roses.
