The Auckland Regional Botanic Gardens covers an area of 64 hectares (or, roughly, 150 acres). They are located adjacent to the southern motorway, access is via the Manurewa off-ramp and eastward along Hill Road. The Auckland Regional Botanic Gardens are open year round, 9 am to dusk. Admission is free. They feature an extensive New Zealand native plant collection; Rose Introducers of New Zealand Trial Ground; and a Southern African collection. There are monthly Guided Rambles (held on the first Sunday of every month) and Hands on Workshops. In mid-November, the ARBG hosts the Auckland Rose of the Year Judging. You can find out more about the ARBG at the site of the Auckland Regional Council: http://arc.govt.nz/parks/24-2.htm. They provide a map which shows the gardens' location: http://arc.govt.nz/parks/24.htm.
