In 1978, Madame Chancel decided, with the help of landscape designer, Tobbie Loup de Viane, to create a garden like one that might have existed in the 19th century, using ornaments and plants of the period. In 1981, three terraces were carved out of the slope and constructed in an area protected from the Mistral winds using stones salvaged from a Roman pool. Work was completed in 1990.

The first terrace is devoted to an extensive collection of vegetables, fruits, and herbs. The second terrace is interspersed with yews, many roses (mostly modern varieties because of their health and repeat-blooming qualities), irises in varying shades of blue, caryopteris, asters, and much more! The third terrace is possibly the most informal of the three with its fruit trees and bower of roses and honeysuckle. All three terraces are linked by the Long Arbor which is planted with once-blooming roses that Madame Chancel eventually hopes to replace with repeat-blooming varieties. 'Mme. Isaac Pereire' grows at each terrace entrance.
