In the September 2000 issue of The English Garden, pp. 40-45, Julia Watson writes about James Taylor's Norfolk garden. Taylor has used a number of Old Garden Roses in his design. The article is accompanied by a number of photographs as well as a planting diagram.


The Garden of the Old Rectory is only ten years old... It was James who created the garden as it is today... In the rose garden, tucked away behind the buttressed yew hedge to the left of the main lawn, he decided to confine his selections to varieties in keeping with the period of the house: "They're almost all nineteenth or eighteenth century, or earlier'. Among them are beauties such as 'Souvenir de la Malmaison' and 'Ispahan'...
