Barnsley Gardens, is a historic Andrew Jackson Downing landscape dating from 1841 with over 200 period roses, an original boxwood parterre and approximately 15 acres of gardens. All set about the romantic ruin of a once lavishly-decorated italianate villa in the foothills of the mountains of north Georgia, the country retreat of antebellum cotton factor and shipping magnate, Godfrey Barnsley.
