In Allahabad I am attached to the Chinmaya Mission Ashram where Mr Ranjeet an eminent cartoonist of allahabad has developed a small but authentic rose garden with 350 Bushes of correctly nammed varieties. In U P even though a favourable climate for roses serious rose enthusiasts are fast declining. Most of the shows are conducted unnamed or wrongly nammed .In such condition we are trying to develop an out standing display of roses in our garden.Even the 'Peace' group which is really a difficult variety in northen india.Recently we have started rose breading in a small scale. How can I obtain some species roses to use in hybridisation ?I am really keen for the guidence of a personality like Sri M.S Virraghavan. How can we proceed?

Girija and Viru Viraraghavan can be contacted directly two different ways on HelpMeFind.
1) If you click PUBLICATIONS on the navigation bar to the left, then the AUTHORS tab and enter "Vir" in the SEARCH field and click the link when their name comes up, you will find a button to EMAIL THIS LISTING (we never give out email address on HMF).
2.) Since Viru is listed as a breeder on HMF, you can contact him by using his BREEDER page where there is another EMAIL THIS LISTING button.

It would be wonderful if you were to list your garden HMF, too.

Smiles,
Lyn

Its good to hear that you have an exclusive rose garden in Allahabad. the Indo-Gangetic plains soil is excellent for roses. We are happy that our variety 'Rajni' (Orient Spice;) is doing well with you as also many other Indian bred varieties. There is an organisation called The Indian Rose Federation, which holds a national convention every January in some part of the country. many rose societies and individuals are members. If you join it you will get information on rose events in India , as also the Indian Rose Annual, which is brought out at the time of the convention. We are the Editors of this journal. You will also get Rose News, a monthly bulletin from mumbai. Check out the website www.roseworld.in. The Rose Hybridisers Association, USA is a good society if you are interested in hybridisation.
You could contact us for more information. You could ask the HMF Webmasters for our details
