Victor Lemoine (October 21, 1823 Delme/Lorraine - December 11, 1911 Nancy), French nurseryman. In 1849 he established his nursery in Nancy. He was succeeded by his son Émile Lemoine (1862-1942) and grandson Henri Lemoine (1897-1982). The nursery was closed in 1955.

Beside clematis and peonies, Victor Lemoine bred Syringa, Begonia, Fuchsia and many other ornamental plants.

[From A Manual on the Cultivation and Propagation of Peonies, by C. S. Harrison (ed.), 1907, p. 19:] Importers have found that many plants from France were seriously diseased. Most of those procured from Lemoine, one of the world's greatest propagators, were badly affected.

[From The Book of the Peony by Alice Harding, 1917, p. 54-55:] "Within the past twenty years, Victor Lemoine of Nancy, who occupies the old Establishment of Crousse, has become one of the world's greatest hybridisers in peonies as well as in other plants. His varieties - the most recent of French introductions - are notable for their distinction of form and colouring in addition to their rare beauty."

[From The Book of the Peony by Alice Harding, 1917, p. 54-55:] Tabulation showing successive owners of noted French collections of peonies:
Comte de Cussy
Calot, 1850-1872
Crousse, 1875-1898
Victor Lemoine, 1898-
now extant at Nancy.

[From Peonies, by Jane Fearnley-Whittingstall, p. 32:] Lemoine crossed P. wittmanniana Chinese varieties to produce early-flowering peonies with large, fragrant single flowers in white, yellow, rose and salmon, with thick, luxuriant leaves such as 'Avant Garde', 'Le Printemps', 'Mai Fleuri' and 'Messagère'.

[From An Abundance of Flowers, by Judith Taylor, 2018, p. 155:] ...More than fifty cultivars by Victor and, later, his son Emile Lemoine are listed in Magnus Robinson's book.
