[From Wikipedia] Jean-François Boursault-Malherbe (January 19, 1752 Paris - April 25, 1842 Paris), French actor, revolutionary, politician and, in 1827, founding member of the Société royale d'horticulture de France.... In 1806 he became the owner of a country house in Yerres, near Villeneuve-Saint-Georges, whose garden became famous for its exotic plants...- He introduced R. multiflora [carnea] in France in 1808, Rosa banksiae alba plena in 1817. He was at the origin of the 'Rose Boursault' in 1818-1820. [François Joyaux states that the seedling was bred by Boursault's daughter (Adélaide or Alberte-Alexandrine ? (March 2, 1804 - October 21, 1873; later Baronne de Rubempré, described as Mme Azur by Stendhal), not Léonie Amable Alberte (b. 1820))].

[From Journal of a Horticultural Tour, 1823, p. 452:] We next drove to Rue Blanche, No. 20, and saw the tasteful villa and garden of M. Boursault. This gentleman, we understand, made his fortune by contracting for the cleaning of the streets of Paris...many of M. Boursault's rarest and finest plants had been imported from the English capital. The red sweet-scented China-rose (or Knight's animated, which is distinct from the blush sweet-scented), was still covered with flowers.

[From Monographie du Genre Rosier, by Auguste de Pronville, p. 148:] M. Boursault possesses in his magnificent collection at the rue Blanche very rare roses which he has cultivated before the large nurseries.

[From Journal de la Société d'Agronomie Pratique, January 1829, p. 23:] BOURSAULT, rue Blanche, no 20.
