Dorus Theus Poulsen (1851-1925) founded Poulsen Roser in 1878.

[From Roses of America, by Stephen Scanniello and Tania Bayard, p. 117:] Floribunda (cluster-flowered) roses are the result of crossing polyanthas and hybrid teas. Much of the original work on floribundas was done by Danish hybridizer D.T. Poulsen, who was attempting to raise roses that would flourish in the harsh winters and short growing seasons of Scandinavia. Poulsen introduced what is considered the first floribunda, 'Rodhatte', in 1912, and his sons Dines and Svend continued his work with this type of rose.

[From Value for Money, by Lt. Col. Ken Grapes, p. 112:] Dorus Theus Poulsen [was born in 1850] of a farming family in Denmark. He started a nursery near Copenhagen... He had three sons and Dines the eldest, was sent to Trier in Germany where he worked for a year with the great German rose breeder Peter Lambert... After this he spent some time at Stanmore in England and then returned to Denmark to take charge of the new Poulsen premises near a village called Kelleriis in the north of the island of Zealand... [he] produced in 1911 the pink Polyantha variety which he named 'Ellen Poulsen', followed by 'Red Riding Hood' (Roodhatte in Danish)...
