Southwick Cary Briggs (September 18, 1866 Albany - ? ), road building contractor, amateur breeder. Date of death unknown, family was in Wheaton, Montgomery, Maryland in the 1920-30s.

[From the Genealogy of the Descendants of lawrence and Cassandra Souhwick, by James Moore Caller & Maria A. Ober, 1881, p. 305:] Susan Buel Southwick...daughter of Henry and Julia Catherine (Buel), born Aug. 4, 1843; married George Cary Briggs, Nov. 10, 1865. Children: ...Southwick Cary, born Sept. 18, 1866.

[From Descendants of Henry Wallbridge, by W. G. Wallbridge, 1898, p. 226:] Alice Chase [Walbridge Briggs, d. 1962], b. Aug. 31, 1874 [Toledo, Lucas, Ohio]. m. Jan. 8, 1894. at Washington, D. C., Southwick Cary Briggs. son of George Cary Briggs [May 26, 1837 - December 26, 1869], and Susan Buel Southwick [daughter of Henry Collins Southwick and Julia Catherine Buel, August 4, 1843 - July 22, 1926] of Albany. N. Y.. where Mr. Briggs was born. He is a contractor for road and bridge work, and resides 1731 Q St., N. W. Washington, D. C.

[From Country Life in America,  Vol. 23, February 1913, p. 43-44:] In a far less expensive manner, but with the same resultant pleasure the year through, Mr. Southwick Cary Briggs has worked out this new idea at " Ingleside , " Washington , D. C. His problem was a little broader, however, since it concerned the neighbourhood , as well as the family. Mr. Briggs got the notion ...that if his boys and their playmates had a swimming-pool, the chances were that they would expend in water sports some of the surplus energy that so often incites to mischief.  ...[photo of pool] In this conservatoty pool at "Ingleside", Mr. Southwick Cary Brigg's place, Washington, D. C., the boys and their playmates find joy the year round.
