We got our "Portland from Glendora" as a rooted cutting from the Cooper-Molera historic house garden shop in Monterey, CA. Amazing fragrance. Gets rust late in the season but that may be because we don't lavish enough water on her.

Collecting found and heritage roses is such an enjoyable and even contemplative thing to do. Here is 'Thomasville Old Gold,' a rescued heritage tea rose of unknown origin that we bought years ago from Vintage Gardens. It gets 4' tall for us, gets some mildew in spring and isn't very vigorous for us here in Central CA but is beautiful Here's the description from the old Vintage Gardens catalogue: "Burnt umber, gold, lemon yellow, and apricot blend in an amazing combination... Very rich, fruity Tea rose fragrance; purple new growth. Sold for years by the Thomasville Nursery as the 1913 McGredy Hybrid Tea 'Old Gold,' but clearly an older, lost Tea rose."
