I've been growing roses since 2001 when my DW and I purchased our little lakefront house in Miramar Florida. To say that I have learned from a multitude of mistakes is to saying that Mt. Everest is a neat little hill. Over the years I have been a member of the Tropical Rose Society of Miami, an affiliate of the American Rose Society. Over the years I've learned from some of the best authorities on growing roses in the inhospitable environment that is muggy hot wet South Florida. Most of my roses are grafted on the Fortuniana, the premier root stock for the southern nematode infested soil. I currently have close to 300 rose bushes planted and in pots all over my modest yard. Most of my roses were sourced from Cool Roses, Nelson's Roses, and K&M Roses, although I have several from Lowes, Home Depot, and various online vendors. On my property you will find various bamboos, palms, a jacaranda tree, a mango tree, and several red mahogany trees. You will also find several orchids, petunias, poinsettias, decorative peppers, and various types of calibrachoas. My goal is to some day root and graft roses for my personal use. I am currently the president of the Tropical Rose Society of Miami.
