Wow! although when I said by Lens Roses I grow this one in Russia I was told that Epoca is rather weak as to health and wouldn't be good for the russian climat. Well, my plant died but because of a bad rootstok. I didn't wanted to take another one, until I saw your foto. Now I'm thinking of. Thanks for uploading your foto!

запаха только нет :( Кстати, у меня есть срезочная роза сходного типа цветка :))) They are too critical in the Lens Roses. My rose grows well even on their nasty rootstock. The leaves are quite healthy, but it doesn't smell. By the way, I have a cut rose with the similar bloom form.

May be, you should not blame the understock? Your experience in growing roses on this particular understock, in my opinion, is close to nothing. Every rose I purchased from Lens nursery are thriving in my garden from the day one.
Could you please, Lana and Alex Stepanov, tell me how many years of exeprience you have with roses from this nursery to make all these comments about their 'bad' understock?

Dear Tatiana, are the roses of Lens Roses radically different of all other grafted roses at all? If the rootstock is developing poorly on heavy clay soils, so the name of the nursery doesn't matter. What matters is, that the rootstock is unfortunately not universal
P.S. Appraisal of my experiences and my personal opinion is not in your authority. Please remember this and behave properly.
By the way I am very glad that in your garden this rootstock is developing successfully :)))

Dear Tatiana, I personnaly don't blame all Lens understocks. I only meant my plant I had. And its understock was really dead after the winter but the grafted part was still alive till june than died too. For justice' sake I planted my 3 first Lens roses in spring 2009 but they are still growing weaker as compared with plants of other nurseries. I would say they grow like the own-root ones.
And well, here are so many members with very different opinions and experiences and they may certainly differ from yours but they have the right to exist even if you personnaly don't agree it.

Tatiana Roses,

You make a potentially valid point (one must exercise caution stating broad generalizations from limited personal experience) but please refrain from posts of a personal nature deriding other members. Thank you.

Do you know which root stock they use in Lens nursery? I am curious, since I do have a heavy clay soil, but I never really had an issue with the rootstocks commonly used here (for example laxa). It may be too cold in the Russian climate for it though (or too wet when the ground unfreezes in spring).
