I began growing roses as a hobby at age 25. I did not own property but I always had roses and tomatoes in pots on a patio when I lived for several years in Berkeley, CA. Once I bought my first home, I began planting a few roses and expanded at each successive home. Each rose garden became a little more successful and a little larger, until I had 65 rose bushes at a small farm. My latest home is back in the suburbs but I have created a lovely little rose garden with many climbing roses to maximize my small space. My current interest is growing clematis with roses. I learn a lot by my mistakes but always have beautiful bouquets to share all the way up to Thanksgiving dinner

The variety of color and form, the magnificent range of scents, the velvety feel of the petals - all make roses one of my favorite things in life.
