A famous gallica rose, but in spite of the occasional nice picture I took of it, I must say that it is a bit disappointing to me. The plant is very unmannered, in bad weather it hangs across everything within reach and on top of that it suckers a lot. For me it doesn't give much flowers either and there's no scent. For me there are better old garden roses. Maybe it's better in a hot dry climate. Most of my gallica roses go floppy in my garden, which has very rich and moist clay. I hope my experience is not common.

Very nice climber. Takes some time to grow big. The flower is of a most beautiful delicacy. Nice scent.

This famous Bourbon never gets tired. It's strong, vigorous and quite healthy for an old repeat bloomer. The flowers are huge and strikingly bold in colour, yet they are always charming. This is as rosy as a rose can get. Did I mention the scent? It is really all you will ever want from a rose. This rose is an ideal climber, that will give you numerous flowers if you train the canes horizontally. Absolutely one of the best old garden roses.

The only hibrid tea I grow. It surprises me with its healthy and strong (and very thorny) growth. It reblooms reliably and is good for cutting. The scent is absolutely delicious and the reason I grow it. The colour is very difficult to capture in a photo. Actually it's less orange and more of a modest cool deep red. Some of the other HMF-pictures are better in this respect. A very satisfying rose.

Can a rose be more beautiful? I love the tender single flowers and the pink buds that seem always to come with them. It looks like a perfect hybrid of a botanic rose. It looks completely natural, yet reblooms often in a season. Recommend for smaller gardens. White fleurette is very healthy, repeats well, reacts well to pruning (you can't make mistakes here really) and cleans nicely after blooming. It looks great from far and nearby. Nothing to wish for, then? Yes, there's no scent. But strangely I never miss it in this rose.

A near botanic rose that needs lots of space but can also be pruned. Attractive for its natural beauty of pure white flowers and bright red hips. Very healthy and reliable. The canes grow up to 7 feet in my garden and then bend over. New canes shoot up along the old ones. Pruning is best done by removing old canes completely.

My favorite garden rose. Well behaving and completely natural in complexion. Its beauty lies in the single white flowers contrasting with the pink buds. Cleans well after blooming, much better than Ballerina. Reacts very well to pruning. Grows neatly without too long canes (like Katleen which has about the same flowers). Size is a little over 3 feet in hight and width. In my garden (very open and sunny) I find no trace of blackspot. Defenitely a stayer. I dont even miss the scent!

A most beautiful English rose of exquisite form, repeating regularly. Forms a very upright bush. Not exactly a yellow rose, more like peachy orange fading to apricot. Very good scent which alone makes it worth growing.
