There’s no explanation about the unusual color of this (I assume) ‘Silver Moon’ nor a date of posting. Does anyone know anything about it?

The photograph shown is our hybridised variety 'Silver Dawn', this is not 'Silver Moon".

Greetings from England I am conducting research on my Uncle (Mammaji) Suraj Bhasin who was a keen grower of roses in Ghaziabad near Delhi in the 1960s and early 70s
Family legend has it that he won a prize at a national Rose show in Delhi in the late 60s for a "black rose"-any idea as to what rose this might be-I know there are no true black roses but perhaps you might have an idea of what might have been popular at this time. Not sure if there are any Rose society archives that I could access?
He also supposedly liked a red rose called The dark lady-the only rose of that name was introduced much later in England-again any ideas? I know this is a long shot but worth a try...
I know he obtained some of his roses from England where we lived and perhaps the States but there must have been local growers at this time?

'Nigrette' used to be called the "Black Rose of Sangerhausen"

Nigrette and Night used to be grown widely in India in the 1960s. The other dark red rose grown was Charles Mallerin

For Girija or Kim.
Could the name of this rose
‘SERGIO SU PROFESSOREDDU DES ORROSAS’ be
‘Sergio su Professor Eddy des Orrosas’?

It may be. I defer to Girija. I copied and pasted what she typed as I felt she presented it the way she wanted it.

No, it is "Professoreddu". Correct Sardinian.

Ok. Thank you Jedmar. I have corrected the names to upper and lower case instead of all caps.

This is the way our Italian friend wanted it named, so please keep this original. Thanks

HelpMeFind’s listings are, as a rule, shown in upper and lower case. I feel that in an alphabetical listing a rose name in capitals seems to give it an unfair prominence over another.

Patricia, the way you have done it is fine ( I checked the entry) its only the wording I meant, as Professoreddu etc., as that is the way the Italian friend wanted it

The parentage on this photo is different than the one reported by Modern Roses. Which is correct?

The correct parentage is
Seed parent : Lady X
Pollen parent : { (Gruss an Teplitz x unknown) x ( Lake Como x Angel Face)}

Thank you Behcet for finding the error. We thank you for making the correction.
