Shelley, how do you protect your roses for winter, and do you have much die back?

I have grown Tropicana about 3 feet from my basement wall for the last 3 or 4 years, and it has survived without any winter protection (other than snow) for the last 2 years in my zone 4B area.

Hi George,

I'm looking at ordering your 1st mini, Rubies n Pearls through Hortico. The info says good for zone 4, and I'm in zone 4b, so should be hardy enough. Wish they had it available at http://www.theheatherfarm.com/roses.htm, as they offer minis for $6.25. I bought my first minis from them this Spring, and although they were small in 3 1/2" pots, some are 4ft high. Hortico is asking $14.99. Some of the ones I got are for zone 5/6, but I have them near the basement so hope I can pull them through the winter. What other minis did you have (good for zone 4)? I am partial to something at least 2ft and a larger flower as well.
