HA HA Hahahaha.... You did give me a lovely morning laugh, Skiekitty. Do you have any bloom photos?

Sorry, I don't recognise your rose. It is certainly not the droopy and dark-leaved, thornless 'Charles de Mills'. I thought I could see some mossing on the buds but can't say for certain. If you were a premium member, you could do an 'Advanced Search' for characteristics particular to your rose - and in the meantime, other members may be able to guide you further as to what your rose may be. Those thorns are a good clue. Give them a few days to help, and then perhaps remove your photos from the 'Charles de Mills' file. Sorry I couldn't help.

The "mossing" you see is actuallly cottonwood fuzzies from the local cottonwood trees. It's not a moss rose. I bought this as an own-root from Roses Unlimited Own Root and verified with them that this is Charles de Mills. Good enough for me.

I agree with Patricia - not Charles de Mills. Ch de M is a very recognisable rose. Look at the other photos, and you'll see what we mean. More petals, flat-topped, purple (in photos that show it properly), gallica fold to the leaf, suckers aggressively on its own roots. Even the best nurseries make the occasional mistake.

Ruby Voodoo is a medium pink rose that's more like a cabbage or DA rose than a HT.

skiekitty, you are commenting on a bloom posted by the hybridizer of this rose, I would think he would know if this is his rose or not. :-)

Thank you. The first pic was shot on film by a friend when the rose was young...the latter pics seen on-line were shot by various people testing my 'Ruby Voodoo' for Colorado Plant Select. The discrepancy IS amazing, plus that the plant once a once bloomer its first three years then became remontant while being field tested at Ft. Collins Nursery by Scott Scogerboe!

I've had Sonia now for 2 years in my Denver CO metro garden. Went through the winter like a champ, survived the extreme cold snap we had (5+ days of -20deg) with about 4" of mulch at the base & the budunion is buried about 4" below the ground level. Only thing is that it STINKS! My smells horribly of pepper, so I'm sorely disappointed in that! Otherwise, great soft pink that's always happy to be blooming!
