My background is in Plant Pathology and my passion is roses. I have developed a particular interest in heritage roses, especially teas, after reading the fabulous book by Billy West et al. 'Tea Roses: Old Roses for Warm Gardens'. We also grow many varieties bred by David Austin. We are currently on a mission to hunt down as many tea varieties as possible, contacting and buying from Honeysuckle Cottage in Bowen Mountain NSW, John Nieuwesteeg in the Yarra Valley VIC, Treloars in VIC and Hedgerow VIC.
Any information on high quality suppliers of rare tea rose varieties in Australia would be more than welcome!!!
We're currently looking at visiting Rookwood Cemetery in Sydney as have learned tea varieties including 'Agnes Smith' are grown there.
Unfortunately, the place i am living only allows me to grow my roses in tubs/pots. I know this isn't ideal, especially for teas, but it should be a good experiment nonetheless! I'll keep updating photos of the progress they make and see how they all go.
