Sir Winston Churchill rose photo
C
Rose photo courtesy of Charles Quest-Ritson
This photograph was taken at Hampton Court Flower on 4 July 2022. Plant Heritage, a conservation foundation in UK, declared 'Sir Winston Churchill' to be its 'Threatened Plant of the Year' in 2020 and arranged for its propagation. Its colour corresponds with the original description, but the red rose published in NRSGB Rose Annual 1956 remains a problem. It seems clear that David Ruston's rose was wrongly named and that so are all the pure pink pictures on this website.
