I started gardening with my grandfather on his 7 acre "gentleman's farm" in western PA when I was a toddler. He grew everything from Concord grapes to "black" roses and had the greenest thumb I've ever seen. Since we've moved around alot through the years any roses either were left behind or never had a proper chance without proper gardening ability. My husband and I are now looking at buying our first house and I'm taking the opportunity to pre-plan and collect a few specimens for containers until we have a house. I work as a merchandiser of perenials and trees/shrubs at The Home Depot (vendor not direct) so have first pick should I choose of the stuff we get. I came across a few choice colored specimens while revamping the rose table. Hopefully I can get them pruned and into shape before fall.
