14 April 2022. Livermore, CA. This own-root plant has stayed at around 2' x 3' for years now and is a faithful bloomer with a wonderful scent.

7 July 2021, Livermore, CA. A recently potted-up band purchased from the Friends of Vintage Roses sale in early May. This is already promising a potentially really nice rose -- nice leaves, strong scent, and what a flower.

Livermore, CA. 27 April 2021. Another view, from my neighbor's yard, of the rose climbing up through the pepper tree.

Livermore, CA. 5 November 2021. Always one of the best for bouquets, and really fine during the fall and winter. My favorite of the Cochets, actually.

Livermore, CA. 27 April 2021. For comparison, 'Rose du Roi - of commerce', as sold by Vintage Gardens. This blossom is 3.5" diameter on a mature bush that is 3' x 3' and rather open with relatively sparse foliage. Some (but not all!) photos of blooms posted under 'Rose du Roi à Fleurs Pourpres' on this site resemble the blooms on this plant.

Livermore, CA. 27 April 2021. This is the west side, from my neighbor's yard. This is such a fine rose!
