I am most interested in Roses. Now that I have achieved the great age of 79 and been growing roses for most of that time, I have turned my attention to breeding them. It is easy when you know how, but still hard work over certain times of the year. My aim is to produce the best ever yellow H.T. So far in the past three years I have produced a fine H.T. named "Valmai's Delight", after my wife! I have registered it with the A.R.S., and will enter it for trial in the R.N.R.S. trial ground at St. Albans, Herts. England, from November 2011. Last season I produced a fine H.T. which I have already decided to name after my oldest granddaughter "Lady Jain". It is apricot / peach coloured, with 25 or so petals, whereas my first success has 35 petals, and gives blooms of up to 6 inches, in singles and in twos and threes. So far both roses are disease resistant. I am determined to grow only healthy plants. Mansel Lovering.
