Born Bisbee, Arizona, August 1925. Grew up in Los Angeles, helping my mother with her roses.
Catholic grammar and high school. Compton College. University of San Francisco. Newspaper work while in college. Public relations for Chicago Rockets, professional football team. Began teaching at Compton in 1949. Moved to Santa Cruz in 1959 to Cabrillo College. Retired 1982. Traveled around the world, spending a month crossing Australia by van. Has written for many horticultural journals and rose magazines. Retired to his garden in Aptos, California.
