My new favorite. Major bloom producer and scent is fantastic!

Flowers in spring 2023. Repeat’s gotten better now it’s been established a few years but normally it’s a bit more leafless. Have found with hybrid perpetuals in Sydney, their growth isn’t usually very strong so it’s best just to just leave them unpruned and it’ll form an acceptable (albeit often leafless) shrublet and actually repeat a bit. (Plant sent to me from Margaret Furness around 2018; was a bit neglected in 30cm pot for a few years but it’s slowly forming a plant now)

Honestly it’s a fantastic rose for Sydney. Good growth, and just generally very healthy AND floriferous on par with ‘Duchesse de Brabant’ (it will try to flower even in the middle of summer instead of going semi-dormant like Austins sometimes do) plus for a hybrid tea it makes a nice shrub, yet the stems are long enough for picking. I’ve underwatered this pot before and it still manages to flower. I find the colour and scent a bit indifferent but overall garden worthy. The ones in ground at the Palace Rose Garden have even bigger blooms, bigger than your fist.
