Every bloom of Comte de Chambord is perfect, if given enough minerals and balanced ratio of fertilizer: I winterized Comte with alfalfa hay, NPK 2.7-1-2, plus sulfate of potash before blooming.

Comte as own-root in less than 5 hours of sun. I have 2 own-roots, bought as tiny bands from Burlington nursery. One black spotted the 1st year, and in the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th year I figured out how to keep them clean: give them potassium and calcium before they are done with blooming. If the pH falls to acidic level, they are prone to blackspot.
