p49. W. J. W. Sanday, Bristol. 'Else [Poulsen]' I fear is dropping badly down the list.

... especially valuable for its lasting qualities, and the same applies to the somewhat common, but still very beautiful, Hy. Polyantha, Else Poulsen, which I have known to keep indoors quite fresh and beautiful for a fortnight in late autumn.

'Elsie Poulsen'. Semi-double rose pink flowers borne in clusters. Growth tall and vigorous; ideal as a hedge. Free flowering.
Book  (1945)

p14. H. R. Darlington. The Polyantha Roses. 'Else Poulsen' is a semi-double pretty light rose pink, growing normally 2 1/2 to 3 feet high; grown from cuttings (which this group will readily do), it is some 6 inches less. There is a climbing sport which is useful, but ordinary plants allowed to develop will make solid bushes of 4 feet or so. It has given several sports which are not always improvements, and I think it still one of the best of its group.

p22. G. M. Taylor. 'Else Poulsen' too, is very good for similar work [as a garden shrub] and makes a fine display, but I hesitate to recommend it, owing to its susceptibility to Mildew.

p28. Leonard Hollis. Hybriid Polyanthas as Bedding roses. 'Else Poulsen' is one of the most widely planted varieties in the group. Her rose-pink, semi-single blooms, with a carmine reverse, are a familiar sight against the background of reddish foliage. The colour is well held, but spotting of the blooms occurs in wet weather. Else is very free-blooming and outstanding for massing, but somewhat liable to Mildew.

p28 ibid. 'Rosenelfe' is a fine autumnal, similar to 'Else Poulsen' in everything but the bloom, which has more petals and superior form.

N. P. Harvey. Pink Roses, New and Old. I have an idea that 'Else Poulsen' was less liable to mildew when it first came out?
