...Somewhat out of the frame is François Juranville...'François' descends from, if the parentage information is correct, from a cross of R. wichuraiana with the China rose 'Mme. Laurette Messimy' (Guillot, 1887), whose salmon-pink bloom colour is found again, though modified, in the salmon to coral-pink blooms of 'François'. From this, and from the yellow undertones it is easy to deduce the existence of carotenoids and anthocyanides. Indeed, we have found here a mixture of cyanine and chrysanthemine, with a majority of chrysanthemine. The carotenoid content is relatively small with 10% mg. The share of carotenoids of stages II and III is again high. Roughly 50% consists of betacarotene. Also carotenoids of the following stages can be detected, with approx. 40% epoxydes. 'François Juranville' was commercialized in 1908, i.e. after the emergence of 'Soleil d'Or', and should not be influenced by the latter's characteristics, if the information on the parentage is correct. The carotenoid-analysis shows however, that contrary to the other yellow roses with China influence, it can already form significant amounts of epoxydes.
