From Rev A. Foster-Melliar The Book of the Rose 1910, page 109. Caption: 'Marechal Neil' Under Glass. The upper plate represents the plant in full bloom, with about 300 Roses on it, April 4th, 1894. The lower one shows the same plant on April 27th in the same year, the whole of the upright rods, with the exception of two or three small portions, still bearing unexpanded buds, having been cut back to the permanent horizontal arms.
