'Orleans Rose'  Shorter  Rose  red  Remontant    P2   H1
In 'Orleans Rose', the pattern of Polyantha roses  was set for the future, mainly because it provided many of  them itself, by sports and its seed. It was also to be responsible for the eclipse of the class, because Svend Poulsen grew from its seed 'Else' and `Kirsten Poulsen'.
Geranium red is the colour of 'Orleans Rose' according to several authorities; a quite amazing statement to those of us who  have seen 'Independence',  and remember growing 'Orleans Rose' year after year. It was much nearer pink; and to call it rose red is generous enough to it. Raised by Levavasseur et Fils from seed of `Mme Norbert Levavasseur',  and introduced in 1909.
