'Paradise ™' rose Reviews & Comments

The form and color of the blooms is spectacular, but ARRRGGHHH!! Foliage burns terribly in the heat. Such a shame. I really love this rose, and she grows so vigorously---over 6 feet tall even in our drought---but those darned burnt tips stick out like a sore thumb since she towers over her neighbors.

Surprised this one is barely available any longer because there is nothing like it. Have grown it in Chico, CA and Columbus, OH and no disease issues to speak of (maybe some blackspot late season in hot, wet Ohio but not at all the worst of the lot), the plant is tough, lusty, grows big and fat, great deep green foliage and I have never shown and never want to but this one punches out "show-ish" quality blooms as easily as does First Prize. The first mauve/lavender that I ever found to be at all "healthy" (Lady X generally is but the bush is so tall and willowy).....there is, to me, no scent at all with Paradise but the color is unique, adore that it is also named "Burning Sky"..........if this one has caught your eye, go ahead, get it, it is an excellent rose and one that should be kicked back into mainstream availability in my opinion.

This rose does good in my Arizona garden. I have it planted against a wall to protect it from the sun, but the leaves will still burn a little when the temperature rises (100+). Very decease resistant and a heavy bloomer even in the shade.

I miss this rose - haven't had it for about 8 years since I moved. I love the coloring with the different-colored edges. Mine had some scent - it was faint but a nice scent. As others have commented, it has a good vase life as a cut rose. Some people are saying theirs had no scent so there are probably some that do and some that don't. Mine certainly did not have a strong scent, though. I love the way 3 or 5 blooms of this rose look in a black vase.
