Top of my list of the new roses was 'Silver Jubilee' which I regard as the best newcomer of the last decade. One of my lasting memories will be of the late Mr. Alec Cocker at the 1976 Oxford Rose Conference, thrusting a huge branch of this variety, covered with blooms, at delegates as they entered a display area, and beaming, "What dae ye think o' this yin then?" It was a truly magnificent sight, and the rose has gone on to fulfil that early promise.

Dr. A. S. Thomas, Victoria.  Some New Ones.
Silver Jubilee  Large Flowered (Arker, 1977): Planted 1979 but grew very little until 1980. Now my six plants are all doing well, with bushy growth. The two-toned pink flowers are of medium size and excellent form. Very beautiful in England in 1976 and 1979.

Editor [Jack Harkness]. Corrections to 1979 Annual.
p66. Believe it or not, the parentage of 'Silver Jubilee' has been wrongly stated in nearly every publication since it was introduced, including the raiser's own catalogue. We asked Mrs. Cocker to check the parentage records, and from those she says the following is correct: [('Highlight' x 'Colour Wonder') x ('Parkdirektor Riggers' x Piccadilly')] x 'Mischief'.
