Origin:
Bred by C. Chambard (France, 1920).
Introduced in Australia by Hazlewood Bros. Pty. Ltd. in 1922 as 'Souvenir de Claudius Denoyel'.
Class:
Climber, Hybrid Tea, Cl..  
Bloom:
Crimson, vermilion shading.  Strong fragrance.  Large, double (17-25 petals), borne mostly solitary, cupped bloom form.  Blooms in flushes throughout the season.  
Habit:
Climbing, well-branched.  Wrinkled (rugose) foliage.  
Height of 7' to 12' (215 to 365 cm).  Width of 8' (245 cm).
Growing:
USDA zone 6b through 9b (default).  Can be used for pillar.  Hardy.  
Notes:
The San Jose Heritage Rose Garden is growing a rose called 'Souvenir de Claudius Denoyel #2'. It is not certain that this is the same rose.
