This one is advertised as highly fragrant, scented of licorice. I don't detect that fragrance at all, and very little other fragrance.

I smelled it last year. It had a strong, very odd scent to me. I couldnt place the scent type, other than "odd".

You must have received a mislabeled plant. Our is heavenly scented and swarms of flowers from spring through the fall. It's great! Sorry you did not experience it.

It was from the huge display at Washington Park. I think its somewhere between sweet and myrrh.

This is the first year with this rose - own root growing in a 5 gallon pot. While I was a little disappointed that it is definitely NOT white, the plant has been a wonderful surprise. It is mannerly, covered in wonderful foliage, and pumps out flush after flush. The fragrance is moderate and reminicent of licorice. I did not spray at all this year, and there was not hint of disease on it.

I would not compare this rose to Julia Child. The comparison is unfair. They are very different plants and I would expect to use them in very different circumstances. JC has a tendency to outgrow its space and get taller than I would like, this rose does not. Placed with HTs of medium height, grew happlily in its appointed spot - of couse next year, when we move it up to a larger pot, will be the real test of that. While JC has a very strong lasting yellow, the yelllow in the rose is muted (not unexpected as it is advertised as white) and fades significantly. The flowers are much more formal than JC, but not really high centered. I think this plant could produce exhibition quality flowers if planted in good soil in the ground and fed generously.

As someone who is not fond of yellow roses (I only have three), This rose has been a real surprise and I find I like it more each time I see it. If planted in the right place and with the the right expectations it really does shine in the garden.

Beautiful plant, beautiful scent and beautiful flower. Period!

Update on 7/15/2013: This rose was absolutely unscathed during our recent 10-day heat wave during which temperatures ranged between 97 and 110 each and every day. So many of our other roses suffered burning, and some look like they were torched. This one looks and smells as fresh as always, blooming up a storm! We may get a few more just to have this delightful rose available to us at all time as a cut rose. Simply wonderful! A few others that did well during this period were Barbara Streisand, Touch of Class, Marmalade Skies, Gemini and Sun Flare. We have about 50 rose bushes right now from a climber down to a couple of micro minis. All these others suffered some degree of burning and acute stress. We hope the worst of the weather (which was unusually hot for our region) is over. Our garden and the many birds who live around our garden were acutely stressed. Thank goodness our water didn't go off during this period!

Take care everyone.

This one does make a great cut flower. I was very surprised at its vase life. I don't recall ever having a floribunda that lasted so long cut. It outlasts a lot of my HTs.

I love this rose. This will be it's third year in my Zone 7 hot, humid climate. Pumps out long lasting, pastel yellow blooms continuously which fade to white over time. It has no problem with our heat and no disease issues in our humidity. Mine is not a no-spray garden due to our humidity, but rarely spray this one and it stays clean. Out of my 70+ roses, it's one of the strongest and most dependably fragrant...you can smell it at any time of the day or night in any weather.

This is one great rose! We heartily agree with you, and we have not had a hint of disease either. Also survived a recent 10 day heat wave when the temperatures did not go below 95 or so for ten straight days and up to 110 on a few of them. Sailed through without a burnt leaf or petal! Quite amazing.
