Hello,
I live in Michigan zone 6. I bought a climbing rose at Menards with no identification for a $1.50. I planted it per the instruction's and it's doing great. But here in lies the problem I don't have a clue what to do now. Can anyone give me a name of a good book or author for the proper care for rose's in my area?

Hi, Mooserman,
One excellent source of information is local rose nurseries like Great Lakes Roses, which has a good website with information directed to Michigan gardeners. Check their web page on HMF: http://www.helpmefind.com/rose/l.php?l=17.3604

Local rose societies often have excellent local information about modern roses. Here are their websites:
http://www.ars.org/Districts/great_lakes.html

Also check the eZine page and search for subjects that concern or interest you.

For really general rose information, I like Roses For Dummies. Try the library because after one read, you might want something else for your bookshelf at home. You must be careful about filtering everything you read through your Michigan climate. It does matter.

The American Rose Society has articles online at ars.org, although I don't know how many are geared toward cold climate rosing.

That should get you started. The key to growing good roses is selecting the right roses for your climate and gardening conditions. Good luck!

Hello Cass,
Thank you for leading me down the right rose path! The mistakes that were made are being corrected. I was glad to see we have a rose society, I'm going to next months meeting to see if that would be something that would interest me. One step closer to identifying the rose, I know it's yellow due to my very first bloom. Thanks again for all the help.
