Its scent can be zilch on some days, and very powerful fruit on other days. I don't know which weather brings it out best, but I would say it seems strongest between mid-June and mid-July.

I have some in a vase that I picked this morning right in front of me, along with Buddleia 'Sun Gold' white phlox and 'Reine des Violettes'. It was damp and cool outside early this morning and I couldn't smell anything but in the house they do have a an old rose damask fragrance. I adore stripy roses.
