I like the fact that this rose is truly 'gold' instead of yellow with a hint of pink/red on the petal edges when it first opens up. It does fade rather quickly on the bush, but the flowers last a long time. If you cut it early before it fades and is at exhibition form, it makes an excellent cut flower. Has a mild fragrance and blooms mostly in clusters on my bush but it will put out singles or you could disbud it if you wish. It stays healthy with regular spraying for me and it survived zone 5 winter with little protection. For a yellow, that is a good thing as they are notoriously not winter hardy.

Why is the Gold Medal listed as Grandiflora and Hybrid Tea?

When a breeder introduces a rose he classifies it as to it's growth habit. If he grows it in an area that produces a medium bush he will call it a floribunda. But if the rose really takes off in warmer climates, then a nursery may classified it as a grandiflora which is really another name for a large floriibunda.
