Description. Roger Pawsey, the raiser, wanted to dedicate this rose to his wife Joanna, nicknamed Joey. 'Joey Pawsey' was something of a tongue twister. 'You could call it just "Joey",' suggested Roger's father. And 'Just Joey' it became.

'Just Joey'  Medium  —   Coppery  buff   Remontant    P3  H2   ***
I find it impossible to choose two words that tell this rose's colour. And I fear that a longer description will only cloud your understanding of it. It is unique among roses, rich coppery orange; but areas of the petals are unreached by that gorgeous colour, being left light, and buff pink. It was raised by Roger Pawsey of Cants of Colchester, one  of Britain's famous and  most respected  names  in roses. The parents were 'Fragrant Cloud' x 'Dr A. J. Verhage' . Introduced in 1972, 'Just Joey' bears its name in affectionate reference to the breeder's wife.
In growth, 'Just Joey' is not typical of modern Hybrid Teas; it lacks the normal height and heavy foliage, and resembles a rose of 'Ena Harkness' vintage. It may need  more favourable treatment than most other roses of the 1970s, and in return will give flowers which attract attention no matter what competitors may blossom around  it.

Just Joey, HT. (Cant, 1972). ('Duftwolke' x 'Dr. A. J. Verhage'). The chrome-orange colouring with slight red veining is very beautiful but the flowers are too loose for my liking despite 30-35 petals. Fragrant and very decorative.
Book  (1972)  Page(s) 52.

E. F. Allen, Awards To New Rose Seedlings In Great Britain In 1971.
Just Joey ('Duftwolke' x 'Dr. A. J. Verhage'). A small-flowered Hybrid Tea, by Cants of Colchester, with flowers of an attractive buff and coppery-pink blend. It started to flower very early and I never subsequently saw it out of bloom. Not a show rose, as it opens quickly, but it should prove very popular for bedding and it is scented. I judge this a very promising seedling but it shows no obvious resemblance to either of its parents. Trial Ground Certificate.
