The Rhode Island Rose Society
in Providence, RI and the staff of Roger Williams Park
have renovated and replanted this historic rose garden. Planting began in the Spring of 1999. A broad range of roses is represented, including the hardy roses from the Canadian and Brownell series, English Roses, Old Garden Roses, and more modern varieties including recent introductions. On ourweb site, you'll find a garden plan and a list of the roses that are growing there. The Roger Williams Rose Garden
will be a tremendous resource for us all. Among the garden highlights is a collection of Brownell roses, many no longer in commerce, which were donated by Dr. Brownell
's granddaughter. There is also a historical list of roses that were grown there circa 1926 from the Roger Williams Park Museum archives.
