I am in Zone 6. My three-year-old plant is thornless (or nearly so), healthy, and has a dainty quality even though it is about 5 feet X 3 feet. The canes are rather lax, so I have it supported on a wire frame in a corner near a deck stairway. It blooms well, is almost carefree and so well-behaved that it has become one of my favorites. The foliage is very attractive when not in bloom, too.

I just recently transplanted, and in the process realized that this is rose basically thornless.
