Introduced in United Kingdom by Prince's Oxford Roses in 1923 as 'Allen Chandler'.

Climber, Hybrid Tea, Cl., Large-Flowered Climber.  

Crimson - scarlet.  Mild fragrance.  Average diameter 5".  Large, semi-double (9-16 petals), borne mostly solitary, cluster-flowered, in small clusters bloom form.  Blooms in flushes throughout the season.  Long, pointed buds.  

Tall, climbing, thornless (or almost).  Large, glossy, dark green, leathery foliage.  
Height of 5' to 17' (150 to 520 cm).  Width of up to 8' (up to 245 cm).

USDA zone 6b through 9b (default).  Can be used for garden or pillar.  Hardy.  vigorous.  a good subject for pegging.  heat tolerant.  produces decorative hips.
