'Eyepaint'. (Maceye). Certificate of Merit 1976. One of a few shrub roses to win an award in the early days and probably the only single one as well. 'Eyepaint' was probably ahead of its time as a rose. The single blooms are produced en masse and it has also been widely used by rose breeders around the world.

Description... makes a mass of bright color that puts a geranium to shame... brilliant scarlet and gold... the sprays of flowers are very long lasting in water... 'Eyepaint' was a nickname that Sam McGredy gave to this rose when he was still trying it out, and it stuck when it was introduced in 1975. Parentage: Unnamed seedling x 'Picasso'
