Origin:
Discovered by Aartje Nijveld (Netherlands, 1885).
Introduced in Netherlands by Jan Spek Rozen BV in circa 1888 as 'Rosa rugosa cv. 'Hollandica''.
Class:
Hybrid Rugosa, Shrub, Understock.  
Bloom:
Carmine-red.  Average diameter 5".  Single (4-8 petals), in small clusters bloom form.  Rounded buds.  
Habit:
Armed with thorns / prickles, well-branched.  Large, medium green foliage.  

Height: up to 7' (up to 215cm).  Width: up to 7' (up to 215cm).
Growing:
USDA zone 6b through 9b (default).  Can be used for understock.  
Patents:
Patent status unknown (to HelpMeFind).
Notes:
Parentage uncertain. See References for suggestions that a species such as R. multiflora, wichurana or davurica is a more likely parent than 'Manetti' based on analysis of the chemical content of the flowers.
