Gabrielle d'Estrées (1573-1599) was a famous beauty and a mistress of Henri IV from 1592-1599. Henri made her the Marquise of Monceaux and Duchess of Beaufort. She had three children by Henri -- all of whom were legitimized. It is said that Gabrielle and Henri were in the process of divorcing their respective spouses so that they could marry each other when she suddenly died.
