p54.  Dr. A. S. Thomas.  Red Roses.
E. G. Hill lacks distinctive colour and opens too flat.

p102.  S. B. Watkins, Queensland.  Rose Temperament.
I have never been successful with 'Talisman', 'Crimson Glory' or E. G. Hill in my garden, yet in my suburb I have seen fine specimens of all these varieties thriving and flowering profusely.  it cannot be due to climatic conditions, site or soil, and so for want of explanation one is wont to speak of rose temperament.  One will often find in descriptive rose literature that this or that rose is temperamental.  This is rather an unsatisfactory explanation for such peculiarities, but it has to be accepted for want of something more factual.
Book  (1951)  Page(s) 50.

G. A. Williams, Runcorn, Queensland.  Roses and Rose Stocks.
Again, just a mile from me is a grower who always states that my E. G. Hill roses are better than his.  We both use the same stock and similar methods.  He may have the same experience with 'E. G. Hill' as I had with 'Ena Harkness' - a bad start with poor buds.
Magazine  (Apr 1950)  Page(s) 8.

E. G. Hill About in the same class of growth as 'Talisman'.
