'RSM 81-1862' rose Reviews & Comments

This is my second year growing Henry Kelsey. This year's spring bloom was magnificent--a traffic stopper. The canes are draped in a graceful arching shape over the cedar fence bordering my property. Dozens and dozens of lateral shoots formed at the beginning of this season, each with multiple clustered blooms on the end. The effect has been stunning. Henry Kelsey is the very first of my roses to bloom. I appreciate this early start--a great show when other roses are just getting into gear... HK's scent is light, but it is there--spicy and refreshing. Of course with HK being a hardy hybrid kordesii, there is little winter damage or die back; it's nice not to have to hard prune and lose all the previous season's structure... Claire, Zone 5/6

Is this the same rose as "Henry Nevard"? I saw Henry Nevard in a catalogue under "Canadian bred Explorer Series". It looked beautiful- is it the same as this or another one? I'd rather buy my roses form you- please let me know if you have this one. Thanks!!!

Henry Kelsey is one of the Explorer Series roses. The rose is a semi double medium red with a good fragrance. Henry Nevard is a Hybrid Perpetual. The rose is a double deep rich red with a very strong fragrance.
