I planted two Pride of England bushes on June 3, 2022. These are own root plants from Heirloom. After only 25 days in the ground I can already see the vigor that this rose has and is described in the Comments below.. They both have deep red new growth everywhere from head to toe. I have my two bushes at a corner of my garden and the rose planted in the exact corner spot is Rose Rhapsody, which was planted same day and is also covered in new deep red shoots. It's looking like that is going to be one helluva garden corner!

Pride of England is "In Stock" at Heirloom Roses right now. Based on positive comments below I have ordered 2 for Spring 2022 planting.

Looking at the photos here, I am perplexed by the bloom form and exhibition ratings left by someone. I'm not an expert, but this looks to have exceptional form, especially for exhibition.

Current fad for exhibitors is: REALLY long stems. VERY round blooms. MASSIVE dimeters. And pin-pint center.

Pride of England is star-shaped, which they loathe.

Their tastes come and go over time, and its widely meaningless, and a huge reason for toxic chemical usage. Anything for that win, ya know. That arbitrary ideal.

That's the reason I quit going to rose shows.

That is one of the two reason I quit as an exhibitor.

I started very young, and I mostly saw people 2x, 3x, and 4x my age acting like children for that win and being nasty to each other. And then there was the insincere joking. Not my thing. I was not raised that way.

The other thing was that the reason for rose shows is to promote the rose. So, here we have 'Pride of England', as a good example. It was one of the easiest and best red HTs I have even grown in my entire life. I would call it the Knock Out of red HTs. It would do very poorly at shows. Rose shows are NOT about the promotion of the flower we all love. And they certainly do not educate the common public they are showing to. Master Gardeners, in contrast, have public talks that do, however. I would do a few shows if pesticides were completely prohibited and all rose classes had the potential to be best of show/Queen, etc. Until then, they are not authentically promoting the rose to the American public.
